Half-Square Triangles BOM

September 2, 2012
I came late to the party:  Jeni of In Color Order has been doing a Half-Square Triangle Block of the Month since January.  I'm finally in a place to catch up.  I spent a while looking through fabrics, and decided I had a lot of christmas fabrics that are leftover from other projects.  I'm using fat quarters of Figgy Pudding by moda.
I used Jeni's alternative method for cutting half-square triangles.  It worked great, and I loved it.  So much easier.  Here is my January block, the sawtooth variation:

I'll be adding the rest here and there.

I had an hour free before the kids wake up, so I went downstairs to my mom cave (sewing room) and whipped up the February block from In Color Order HST BOM.  From start to finish, the block took 35 minutes.  Fun!  It's the flying geese block.
I'm using the alternative method for cutting the half-square triangles.
Sew around all four edges with 1/4" seam allowance; then cut the square into 4 triangles on the diagonals.  Easy-peasy!  Here is February's flying geese block:

From this afternoon, here is the March 2012 block:

Happy Sewing!
